Alligator eats fugitive
It’s about time that the Alligator population in South Florida contribute to society. All we have to do is chase our criminals into the Everglades and the Alligators will do the rest.
The man who died last week after trying to evade police by jumping into a lake — where an alligator left him with teeth marks on his upper torso — had a lengthy criminal record, The Miami Herald has learned.
The man was identified as Justo Padron, 36, of West Miami-Dade.
Padron had been wanted by police since September, when he was charged with violating his probation after pleading guilty in June to cocaine possession.
Padron was arrested more than a dozen times since 1989 on burglary, robbery, drug possession and other charges, Miami-Dade court records show. He was released from prison in 2002 following a six-year sentence for burglary.
The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed Wednesday that Padron died of an alligator attack, classifying his death an accident. The office would not comment further because the investigation of the incident is ongoing.
