Iranians Victorious In Standoff with USA?

Posted on January 8th, 2008 by mpress101

This is what Iran showed up with to “intimidate” the US Navy?

“Iran wins another battle in the war with the US.” say some in Iran. One must admit that Iran wanted this confrontation against the “oppressive Americans.” But it seems that Iranians are not as crazy as Bin Ladens boys. If this was a suicide mission it was a failure. But it wasn’t a suicide mission because the minute the Iranians thought they would be meeting the 72 Virgins they turned and bolted. The Persian Kings must be spinning in their tombs. The Persian spirits must be saying “what kind of enemy does not blow those idiots out of the water” see video

America and Iran came perilously close to a military clash when five Iranian speedboats threatened on Sunday to blow up three U.S. Navy ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital oil route.

USS Bonhomme Richard, center, and her strike group transit the Gulf of Oman in May last year. Nine US warships, part of three different strike groups, passed through the narrow Strait of Hormuz on Wednesday

The Americans were seconds away from defending themselves when the boats, operated by Iran’s hardline Revolutionary Guard, turned away at the last possible moment. They were en route to the Gulf early on Sunday morning when the Iranian boats dashed to within 200 yards. One radioed to the frigate: “We’re coming at you and you’ll explode in a couple of minutes.” The implication was that the speedboat crews were on a suicide mission. “They sped over the waves in front of the American vessels dropping boxes which the U.S. Navy thought could contain mines.” DM

Doctor opposition to health care overhaul proposals is broad and deep, revealing concerns not just about soaring costs, declining care, possible rationing and a lack of limits on malpractice suits, but also about government competence and motives, detailed responses to a new IBD/TIPP Poll show. As reported Wednesday, 65% of the 1,376 practicing physicians who responded to a mailed questionnaire over the last two weeks said they opposed health care plans that have emerged from the administration and Congress. Just 33% supported them.
